Disenchantment with politics is a serious problem of modern times. A large section of the population has distanced itself from the participatory process, and a transition to post-democracy appears close. However, digitization can help to rejuvenate the political apparatus and herald a radical reformation.
Concepts like liquid democracy, the dynamic transfer of one’s own right to vote and other grassroots democratic concepts aim to help make democracy more accessible for people. Part of the overall problem is that political structures find it difficult to keep up with people’s digital needs, and this represents the greatest challenge for fresh, democratic approaches.
